Becontree
RM8 / RM9The vast interwar estate — one of the largest in the world — of near-identical cottage-style houses and low-rise flats along the long, looping avenues. Driveways are rare, so it is on-street loading and a plan for the narrow bends and parked cars.
Dagenham Heathway & the centre
RM10The heart of it around the Heathway station and the shops — a mix of terraces, ex-council houses, low-rise blocks and newer flats. Busy roads, on-street parking and the odd tower block to plan a lift and a loading window around.
Chadwell Heath
RM6North towards the Romford border — Victorian and Edwardian terraces, semis and newer estates around the station and the High Road. A bit more driveway and kerbside room here, and a short hop to the A12.
Rush Green & the Romford edge
RM7The north-east corner towards Rush Green and Romford — postwar semis, family houses and pockets of new-build. Quieter streets and more off-street parking, on the edge of the borough.
Dagenham East & the riverside
RM10South and east towards Dagenham Dock, the Ford site and the river — the newer riverside developments and estates by the A13. New-build blocks with loading bays and lifts, and good road access to the motorway network.
The Barking & Rainham edges
RM13 / IG11West towards Barking and south to the Rainham edge — terraces, estates and new developments on the borough borders. Covered as part of the wider Dagenham patch rather than poached from the neighbours.

The short cross-neighbourhood move is RM’s everyday job — a Dagenham house to Chadwell Heath, a Heathway flat to Barking, a shuffle over to Romford or Rainham.
